Default Down to 2...Vinson or Outlander4oo

Really can't decide here, between the outlander 4 and the vinson 5 by suzook. Rode both of them today, unfortunately the 'zook dealer does't have a lot of space so I wasn't able to check out top end or do much cornering or off camber type riding. I was able to check out all these things on the bombi, guy let me ride it as long and whereever I wanted to. Nice dealer. The outlander does seem to have a little more body roll in turns, but not excessive. That was the main thing I liked about the straight axle vinson, more stable and able to power it thru a corner a little better rather than be tentative. 'Zook has a little nicer dash pod and an extra light too. I'm just not sure how the swingarm rear will handle in more technical off camber woods riding. I mean I'm sure it'll be a little rougher ride, just not sure if it'll be a big deal. Outlander's about 4 bills less too, with the 3 yr warranty. Right now I'm leaning to the outlander, but just can't decide. Dam!

Any input greatly appreciated!

PS top end on the bombi appeared mid 40s on a sandy road with small holes/washouts. maybe slightly more on flat/hard road.

Outlander might be a nice quad but dont get a BOMB!!!!! The Vinson is a great machine for what i have read and heard of it having great power. Get the SUZUKI baby, Bomb wont cut it, plus i know this dont matter but the damn things are ugly!

And the japanese are any better? I'd like to buy close to home, but don't think the behemoth polaris fits what I want. And, of course, they are only partially domestic.

Well, consider this; Dirtwheels just did a shootout that included the Outlander 400 in the same class as the Eiger 400. The Outlander pretty much won in almost every catagory however the Eiger was right in there with it. Little things like the Outlander winning the drag race but having the Eiger lose by three feet and voting the Outlander suspension the best but pointing out that the Eiger could handle every tough trail as the Outlander with just as much comfort and control. I know the shootouts have to give the 'win' to someone in each catagory but things like speed differences in hundredths of MPH and track times of 1/2 a second less have no meaning in the real world unless you are racing. In any event, Dirtwheels ruled the Outlander as the best 400 automatic but gave the win to Suzuki since the small amount of performance differences were not worth the extra $800 cost of the Bomb.

My point is that if the Eiger is this close to the Outlander in a side by side comparison test, the Vinson will stomp either one of them - no contest. Get the Vinson.

And that's not even considering the fact that the Outlander has got to be the ugliest quad on the face of the earth..........no wait....the Rally has that honor.

Hey GT2, I bought a vinson two weeks ago. I really like it. I put 78 miles on it the first weekend. I got the 5 speed. The machine is awesome to ride. It has a ton of power. It has a very nice ride. It has been rated the best atv in the 500cc class. It you buy one you will like.

You guys really think the outlander is ugly, hey? Hmm. I kinda like the sportier looks to it. My wife is with you guys, though, she says it looks too much like an chev avalanche with the plastic. I suppose she has a point, those avalanches are sure ugly, imo, of course. I think I've pretty much decided on the vinson, but will get to ride it tomorrow am to be sure. Now I cannot decide manual vs auto. Any input? I always thought I wanted an auto for ease of operation, but I notice lots of guys around here have the manuals. Pro's and cons? Thanks.

well cost is about the same if not a difference of a few hundred, the manual will probably be a little faster too......

I don't mean to be rude but comparing those two you have not done your homework, like Jaybeecon55 said the Eiger beat the outlander 400 in the dirtwheels shootout because it was almost as good but $850 less. And by bringing the Vinson in the picture it will clearly beat the socks off both of them, not even close, and Suzuki is a lot more reliable also....Go with the Vinson.. I wish I had done it but I couldnt afford it at the time, but that is my next choice..

Hey GT2, I bought the 5 speed. It shifts really easy. The 5 speed is faster that the automatic. They are both good machines. I went back and forth between the manual and the automatic. I'm really glad I picked the manual. I like to shift. Good luck let us know what you desided.
