Default Coos Bay, OR restrictions

Hey Sandman, Marky, anyone who hits up the OR dunes... I was up there last winter and the campground was empty and there was no Rangers/Sand Dune Parking Lot Security Officers/ whatever there called around cause it was a for a couple days in the middle of the week.. Anyway now it looks like i may be hitting those dunes like the second week in Aug.. probably more action then huh? What are the rules that im going to run into..
Do they test for Noise cause mine is as loud as they get?
Do they need you to have a State Sticker, like Glamis requires...TX dont have that
Rules against ridding double?
Are they looking for drinking/riding which i dont do but wonder if there out there pesterin people like glamis?
thanks you OR duners!!

The noise thing and spark arrestors are not an issue if you stay cool around the staging/camping areas. There are rules but for the most part they are not enforced if you don't draw attention to yourself. ie: blasting around on the pavement. If you have an out of state current sticker on your bike your good, you just have to buy a day pass for parking. They have machines at the entrance that will sell them, $5.00 a day. Of course you have to have a flag, they say 8' but I have seen shorter. There is still some confusion on the alcohol issue, I'll try to get the whole scoop on saturday while at Florence. As far as I can tell, they don't give a rats %^& on how you ride. Lotsa people double up even with tiny kids which kinda scares me. If your state doesn't require a sticker I'm sure you'll be ok with just a day pass.

man if you could hit the 31 of july on that is sand fest and that would give you some good memories. during the week the sound cops aren't out as much, or so it seems we run full woods and a full graydon and i just shift up a lot when they are around and go the other way, and don't stay in one place to long. they visit comp but seem to let that one slide a little. you have to have a sticker but any state will work, but if you don't have one there 11 bucks here, and there good for two years and should work at other states.

For information here's the number to the Oregon Dunes visitor center (541) 271-3611. Sandman I also told your wife that I would post that number, she wanted to call and get some permits for dune fest.

Coos Bay/Boxcar is a cool area, but definately check out Winchester Bay and South Jetty to the north on hwy 101.

Winchester has some of the best dune riding in the area, biggest hills and most technical riding.

Florence/South Jetty is known for comp hill which gets alot of action on the weekends, great if your into drag racing.

Plan to get nailed for sound if your going out on a busy weekend, they always seem to harass the 4 strokes. Dont hammer down out of the parking area soon as you hit the sand, you will get nabbed when you come back for sure. Go easy on it whenever you see a ranger or large groups of sand campers and you might be ok.

Not sure about the out of state ORV tags, but I know you can get busted for riding double, had it happen to a friend at Sandlake. Just depends on the mood of the ranger involved and how responsible your riding. Just dont draw attention to yourself.

I avoid weekends down there, too many people and the rangers seem more irritable. Much more enjoyable on weekdays IMO. But if your really into drag racing you wont find much action on weekdays.
