I your battery is fully charged and your solonoid just clicks chances are you have a amp problem either the starter sol or the starter is bad. Most don't realize it but a soleonoid has a spring washer in it that each time its engaged the coil pulls this washer down to make the contacts up. If you run low of voiltage for any reason the coil may not pull the washer down fast enough causing a arc which causes burn spots like on points Well when its realeased the washer turns and may never cause you any problems. But if it dose land on those same spots it starts a amp damage avalanche !!! and could damage your starter fuse circutes and wiring system. And if this is your case jumping it with a car overides any amp problems and the washer turns and whaala no more problem.Until your washer turns again!! Good luck

AZSAND is correct. But make sure you check all your connections (battery, ground, soloniod, starter). Get a wire brush and clean all the contacts, both the mounting points and the connectors and try again before you buy a new soloniod. You could still have a bad soloniod, but if you don't check your connections and one is bad, it could just fry the next soloniod that you put in.

The DS650 schematic shows that the charge rate is 13.2 to 13.7 vdc. You may just have a bad battery. I have had batteries that show good voltage but when I crank it the voltage drops to <9 vdc. If you can use someone elses battery to get it running, compare the voltage of their battery with the engine off (12-12.8vdc) and when running (13-13.8vdc). Then watch the voltage drop during rollover. If it drops more that 2-2.5vdc then the selonoid may be going bad. If your battery drops below 9vdc you may have a bad battery.

If I were there I could narrow it down in about 15 min.

Hope this helps.

why won't it run by itself then? once the soloniod makes contact the bike shouldn't need it right?

Ya, my stator is shot. It don't have any charge comming from it. Anyone know if I can get mine fixed or where I can get a different one. I will not pay $490 from bombardier for a stator so can someone point me in the right direction, because this sucks!!

Your battery could very well have a DEAD short in the inside. Take a battery out of another quad and see if it works, then if it starts and runs on its own, make sure your rectifier is working properly. I beliieve you should have 14.2 volts at a fast idle.

Pushingthe, imit, You should also check your rectifier out also, I haven't heard of any Bomb, staters going out, but several rectifiers have gone Kapoooot! Some times they will just stop charging, and sometimes they will Over-charge.

Thanks dunecrazy, I have already put a new voltage regulator in and that wasn't it and I know it's my stator. if anyone needs a voltage regulator I have an extra one.

I also found this "do it yourself article" on rewinding a stator.

http://www.thegsresources.com/garage...atorrewind.htm

it's for a street bike, but it'll give you an idea what you would be against.
