I know this has been said many times............... We are to limited on aftermarket parts:l..................The aftermarket parts that are available are way to much $$$$$$$$$$ compared to other quads
I understand the mfg's point, but it still bites!!!!!!!!!;
I just called a local mfg, I am looking at all the options for A-arms, Swing arm, front and rear shock. I did a forum search and I'm still not clear on the better choices. So I printed all the replies for throan reading material.
Sorry people, just lettin out the steam!!!!!!!!!
This is what I'm looking for:
A Arms, stock length, lighter, Chrome moly, maybe +1 foreward
Tripple rate front shocks, no rezzie, good fit for above
Lighter swing arm, chrome moly or aluminum, stock length, uses DS parts
Dual rate rear shock, rebound, compression adjustable w/ rezzie

i bet a 400EX, or raptor would end all this madness for you. Im just kidding, i was dead set on getting a bomb, and after looking around for dealers close to home, and pricing aftermarket things, it was all just too expensive......

Thanks for the reply people...
Dez...Thanks for the links. I think the aluminum swing arm sounds good.
Obsessed...It's not a matter of needin all this or a new quad. I just think I have exceeded the capability of my stock suspension. Plus I would like to shave some weight which = more speed. I will not mod the engine until I have a problem with it.
Thanks evetone....I'll finger something out

So which parts are actually more expensive than other quads?
I have never seen anything that is disproportionately more expensive. Shocks - everyone gets the same shake. Engine work is VERY unique to the engine & builder. Exhaust is similarly priced. I haven't seen any different pricing of A-Arms. The swing arms cost about the same.
I'm really not sure where this extra cost would come from. Now if you owned a Banshee, I could see your complaint. Those guys have to buy two of everything relating to the engine.
The only difference I've seen is that many manufacturers are taking longer before they start to work on DS parts since there are fewer of them on the trails. That is lag, not cost.

DS..Hi compression piston...$249.00 (kit w/ piston, cams & gaskets $475.00)
Crapter... Hi compression piston (kit)...$159.00
EX...Hi compression piston(440kit)...$320.00
Z400...Hi compression piston (kit)...$159.00
This is just some of the items I have seen. If I had more time I would post the rest.
It don't really matter, I will keep my DS, It's awsome and dependable. I will just mod when I have the $$$, and I will make some more of my own parts.
