Default oil filter

can someone tell me where to buy aftermarket oil filters for DS 650?

What is the original part # for that filter?

K&N part# KN151 is a smaller filter but that's what they sent me.

I didnt know K&N had a oil filter for the DS650 but I just went to the dealer for one and they gave me the small one instead of the long one I needed AND shorted me a quart of oil. They said it only takes 2 quarts and that didnt sound right but I trusted them like a dumbass. How many quarts does it take to fill these things anyway because I put in three and it seems right but just wanted to verify that so it doesnt come up short after an hour of riding. Also will it hurt to use the smaller filter in my quad even though it has the case for the longer filter? it sits on there pretty tight so I dont think it will back off but I do change my oil after about 3-4 outtings.

I would think it would pop off. You should check it.

It will take just under 4 quarts when you also change the oil filter. I just drop 4 quarts in not enough over to worrie about anyway. Just an extra ounch or so of weight anyway. The oil filter you got is the one for the 2000 DS's. The longer one is an upgrade in the newer models. Flows more oil. You should swap it out for the correct one IMO. There is a gap betwwen the filter and the filter cover. "IF" the filter where to slide you could be woithout filtered oil, "Maybe"...So why chance it for 12 bucks

Wel, I went to the Bomb dealer today and he said the long filter is on backorder from bombardier and wouldnt have any for a while. Now I am in the debate of whether to put the old filter back in or run the short filter.

trust me! do NOT re-use the old filter, you will get filliments stuck in your oil res filter and starve the motor for oil in result to a blown bottom end...
