Last weekend we all went up to the Cinders in Flaggstaff. We all had a good time but both mine and the wife's bike ran like $hit. Mine overheated and the radiator hose blew off and shot the hot antifreeze all over my leg. OUCH!!!!!

Anyway, AZ was able to get his medium bike dialed in pretty good and was taking all of the hills challenges. $100.00 hill proved to be just a practice run for some of the other ones that were around there. Specially the one by our camp. I would say that it was about the same height but steeper and looser cinders, and there was several tree shots to boot. Infact AZ's first time up it he turned around the wrong way and had to come back down thru the trees and bushes. We were all laughing our A$$'s off. But at the same time everyone was amazed that he made it all the way to the top. He was the ONLY one all weekend. I saw a couple Banshee's get close but not all the way to the top.

OK, so here comes the crazy part. At about 10 o'clock at night when it was pitch black out AZ decides that he is going to climb the hill again. Well we all called his bluff and followed him to the hill were he went up it not once but twice. It was so dark that his bike looked like a shooting star up in the sky but going the wrong way. Then the flames coming out of the exhaust on the way down lit up the hill so we could see just how far he got up it.

Hat's off to AZSand- You are the MAN!!!!!!

I'm not 100% sure but I think the hill might have been called "Chicken" The rangers tried to close it off with dead trees but he managed his way around those too.

 

We were there as well! I would say 100 dollar is a way more challenging than Chicken. It may be a little steeper at the top but there are no woops at the bottom and it's a lot shorter. I didn't climb it this year cause it was blocked off. I tried 100 dollar but I just wasn't dialed in enough to make all the way.....I got aboout 3/4 before having to turn around. Did you see the dirt bikes jumping at the top of 100 dollar....now those dudes are nuts!

03 Rap- We were camped right in front of Chicken. I think. If were are thinking the same hill then we were the only ones camping in that area. That was my first time there so I'm not familiar with the hills and there names.

 

Cool, you guys had a good spot. We rode by your camp several times. We were camped to the east of you down by where the Cinder highway starts. We had a big yellow Penski truck in our camp I made a really early morning pass by your camp around 5:30 AM on Sunday morning. I saw some people sitting in your camp. In fact I tried to blast up on of the trails to the right of Chicken that morning.

Yeah my camp was pretty annoyed with me all weekend....I couldn't sleep past 4:00AM[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/img]!
I tried to cruise by as quite as possible....but you know how that goes.

PS. Did you guys hear about somebody getting killed on Friday or Saturday? We heard the rumor but never confirmed.

I did not hear anything about someone dying. But i did hear there were fire engines and emergency vehicles out there the night before we arrived !!

 

You should mount some road flares on your DS next time. Just a thought
