They're just like a snowmobile. The only time you get belt slippage is if the clutches are adjusted wrong or if you're trying to pull heavy loads/mud in high range. Sleds with 150-200hp don't have any trouble with belt drive, an atv sure shouldn't.

Bomby & Pol are the only CVT belt drives to slip the belt to get under way, thus you do get some belt wear. Once under way there should be neglegable belt slip. By using the proper gear at the proper time ( high vs low range ) you should get considerable mileage out of a belt. My Yam snowmachine uses the same system & at 7,000kms it's on the original belt with very little wear.

No problems with belts on 100hp sled engines? I work on high output bomb sleds all winter and belt and clutches are a main area of concern. And "blows belts" is one of the biggest complaints I hear all winter long. Countless belts get trashed every winter. Some guys can take them out in a few hundred miles easy, even less under race conditions. Riding habits and clutch align. , adjustment account for some of it, but if your are putting 100+ ponies to it on a constant basis, you better learn how to inspect and replace it. No one around here rides without a spare. With the drastically reduced power of the outlander (compared to sleds), this won't be a problem.
