Today is your friends LUCKY day!
Talk to ScoobyDFW, he may be selling his turbo set up off his DS(it was in a wreck). If your buddy want to be KING! of the 4 dtrokes in the greater tri-state area, scooby will get him thier!

biggerisbetter, what all is required for a turbo hookup, any special parts, etc. i have just a piped and jetted baja and my buddy sandman430 is running close to a stage 3 and absolutely smoking me (with the turbo on who would win?). if there is not anything else required such as bigger piston, etc. and i could keep my current pipe i'd like to know how much that would run...scooby if you read this and interested in selling the turbo...let me know. thanks

forced induction such as a turbo/supercharger has many mods needed to the motor long befor you just bolt on a huffer and go. stronger balanced crank, rod, lower compression piston(forged) O-ringed head, on and on. not to say a turbo-supercharger isn't ball's out power IT IS!! but there is a reason not everybody has one

Bigslim, I was in Florence about a month ago and ran Sandman repeatedly. I was very impressed by his launch but I consistently came in a half bike length behind and I've never had my motor apart. By the way I outway him by 65lbs. I remember seeing a Baja with him but don't recall racing you.
I'm not knocking your quad Sandman, it's fast and I really believe those 23 inch tires are the way to go. You have very consistant hard launches. Anyway my point is I think DS's have more potential in stock tuning without tearing into motors and replacing parts. Granted, a stock tuned bike should never keep up with a bike with Cams and piston but you might be surprised at how close they can be. I rode last week with my friend who has hardly touched his stock DS and he still beats me by half a quad length. I'd love to get ahold of that bike and tweak it but he's afraid anything done to it might make it slower. It's a very early bike and we think it may have been a test bike and slightly tweaked.
Bigslim, if Sandman is spanking you badly you should check your gearing, jetting, and with those tires I definately recommend some kind of heavier clutch spring. There are plenty more tricks but I have to keep some secrets.

we put a 14 on the front counter shaft of bigslims. but i agree that the gearing is the way to go my wife's is stock engine also and she still out runs me on the hill if i don't get a good start on her, i believe she is geared just like yours mystereid. i have to say that i'm a little confused about the piston and cams. when we raced this weekend we did some flat racing and my quad just pulled away hard on my wifes and bigslims but on some hills my wife was right there and slightly edged me out a time or two. i went to the gearing calulator and with the 23" tires i'm slightly higher geared than my wifes. well until i can get that 45 carb figured out better i guess i'll have to loose to her, i guess that makes her happy though. and all three of us are keeping our eye on little speedracer he keeps getting closer and closer on the 400 soon he will be beating us.

I'm saying that in stock form a DS engine is a good performer. Take your average low compression car and swap cams and pistons and it would stomp all over a comparable car. Put cams and a higher comp piston in a DS and they are still just a few bike lengths apart at the top of the hill. Look at how close the racing is for alot of bikes. It takes a serious hp increase to really notice a big gain.
When I first got my DS and had completely wrong tires, everyone seemed fast. Now I've got my bike set up the only really fast bikes are the super modified banshees.
I'm not sure why your bike would pull better on the beach but some days it feels like a 20 degree difference in temp from comp. It could be jetting, traction or gearing.
