How can you tell if your shift fork is messed up?

It will pop out of gear. One of mine was popping out of second, I brought it in for warranty repair. They took it apart and the fork was slightly worn down but did not look bent. Bomb rep said its covered. They then left my engine out all apart on the bench for 5 weeks. I informed them I did not want the quad any more and traded it on a kfx 700!! I pick it up tomorrow
I still have one ds left and it has had no problems so far....

OK thanks, Well the problem Im having is when moving, I pull the clutch in and down shift it starts making a funny vibration. This only occurs with the clutch in. When I let the clutch out it engages ok. Is the clutch not adjusted?

Mine does that sometimes...when downshifting a couple gears with the clutch pulled in.

The first sign is that the quad will be hard to find neutral when its running. Then a little hard to shift, then finnally, it will feel like the chain is slipping off the sprocket teeth --- Snap, Snap, SNAP! Then you know you'll have to split the case to replace that stuff. I've done mine three times.

Nobody you know ...

Ironrod, if it is my shift forks, do I have to split the cases to fix them? I do sometimes have problems getting the bike in neutral, But I thought with the new rwr springs that they affect the bike shifting to neutral.

Yes, if its your shift forks, you'll have to split the case. I don't know of anybody that has had a problem with the RWR springs causing a problem by not finding neutral. I'm not saying that it can't happen, Its just that I have not heard of it.
