Steering stem bearing?
#1
The bottom of the steering stem has a bearing right? Well it has quite a bit of play in it and you can tell it is wore pretty good. The two bolts on the side are cranked tight so I know it's the bearing for sure. Are these expensive? Are they hard to put in? It looks like a pretty simple job but I just want some info on how much the bearing is and if anyone else had to put a new one in. Thanks.

Yep theres a bearing down there. tough little bugger to get off too.
Cost like $15 through dealer.
Had to use a pickle fork pry bar to get it off. Order a new one now, it will destroy it.
Dont forget to put the housing on first when reassembling!
I put mine back on with a new steering stem my friend made.
Very tight fit.

Ok thanks man. What do you mean by "order a new one now, it will detroy it." What will get destroyed? It's cheap enough I will order a new one right away....... Only thing that is cheaper is oil filter spark plugs and waterpump seals LOL!!!

trying to get the bearing off of the end of the streeing stem will ultimately destroy the brearing outer soft skin. Unless the is some magic trick to do it.
I started with a screw driver and slightly damaged mine, but still used the old one. I wish now I would have waited to get the new one but had a day trip planned. So far so good though....
