I'm stoked as hell about this kit. End of this month I'm sending him my cylinder if not sooner. All I have on my DS is a Big Gun Exhaust, uni air-filter and a jet kit and a Graydon Proline rev box.

Would would be the single best thing to compliment that 720 kit? I was also thinking of gearing down 1 tooth up front (which I have sitting at my desk) maybe some head porting and cams. I want the front end to come up on demand!!. I got a Stage III bud I'm dying to beat or at least give him a good run. Is there a set of cams out there that give you more top but don't remove bottom? I ride MX as well (yes this big yellow thing sees tabletops) and I never really get past 3rd gear on the track.

DStroyer,

from what I understand the kit runs about 1100.00. I know Sam Coe offers something similar and cheaper but one thing I like about Gary's kit is that it comes o-ringed and with all the gaskets. Also he needs the head to machine it to the piston. Told me the it's designed so the gas burns right at the center of the piston and needs to clear the head. Attention to detail is what is selling me. I'm sold.

the piston is rather flat on top kind of raised in the middle a little but it creates a flat burn surface makes good sense. i got to tell you i went out to the hill worried that i might be in a little trouble, and man did that feeling leave in a hurry, i'd say it is at least 3-5 quads faster on our comp hill than the stage two, and on the flats it isn't even, a race reminds me of the ds against the 400 honda.

MAN I cannot wait to get mine. As soon as Gary prices me cams, porting, and valve springs if I have enough for 1/2 of all that I will send him a money order for half and pay the rest on the credit card. Gary is on vacation. After reading this thread I had to give them a call. I'm drooling over this now.

Sand... does your front wheels come up a bit easier now off idle?

wheelies have always been my thing, but yeah the front comes up, i was racing mrs sandman and she got the drop on me and i was hitting the whoops hardit launhed, it's great, but if you want wheelies it's gearing try 14-42 or 14-42 it works great. i like the 15-43 it worked great this weekend, i tried 16-43 but it wasn't what i thought it would be. i may try 15-41 at some point.

I run a 16-43 with mine and it kicks Butt!!! A 15/42 wouldn't be bad either.

Punish,

How much do you weigh? I think it has to do with weight and how you sit on the bike. I tend to sit pretty damn near the gas tank. When I had my 400 EX I felt kind of large on it but gave me ease to pull a wheelie. My Raptor feels similar to that 400 but the front end comes up faster than the 400 and the balancing point is a bit set off. I've been able to occasionally lift the front end on my DS but not intentionally. Last year at Silver Lake drag racing with the crummy paddles I had I was able to lift if off the line (hence I had it in a 2nd gear start at like 5000 + RPM). I have a 15 tooth front sprocket here... when I slap my DS back together I will throw it on and see what kind of performance it gives.

I did ride on DS with a Stage I kit, with accelerator pump, 15 tooth front sprocket and a twist throttle. That had to be the MOST abrupt DS I've ridden right off the throttle. Maybe the combo of twist, pump, and sprocket helped.

Hmm.... would a stroker kit be more for me?

no not yet i've got a powroll kit going into the kids 400, so i asked about getting a few runs on there dyno. should have something in a month or so. but those will be numbers at 2500 ft. i still need to change a few things like a swingarm, but then i will want to go to dual carbs, then some nos. after that we may look into the stroke.
