where to get valve shims?

Default where to get valve shims?

I just checked my valve clearances and the intake valves were tight ( no clearance) so now I need to get new shims but dont know where to get them, can anyone help me, PLEASE

your local Kawasaki dealer should have them. They are a 13mm puck or shim in diameter and just specify the thickness your looking for. IF they don'y have em just call all the bike shops you can and you'll find some- just don't call your bomb dealer, if they are anything like mine they carry nothing in stock!

aren't they 29 mm rounds ?

yamaha dealers will cary them. there are the same shims used in many of there engines.. my yamaha dealer had them.

I got mine from the Kawasaki Dealer - the shims you need are 29mm round which is the same size as the shims used on the KZ1000 police bike. The good thing is the KZ1000 uses the same 'range' of sizes as well. I bought a while slew of shims, from 230 to 210 I believe (and everything in between.) They weren't cheap but I wanted to have a good collection for when I need them.

Seems like i heard that BMW shops carry them because some of their bikes use the same shims.

The F650 has almost the exact same engine as the DS - however all of the BMW shops that were remotely close to me were out of stock. However you are right, I'm sure other BMW dealers do actually keep stock.
