It was a bent shifting fork -

I got a call from my new mechanic. It turns out the tranny problem I has was indeed the shifting fork. One was just junk! The ones that were replaced on my last rebuild were good (why Vancouver Motorsports Service didn't replace all of them as I directed is beyond me). The whole thing should be back together by Dune Fest! I can hardly wait.

What was interesting is that the new (black shift forks) were still good. There was one original that came with the 2000 DS that finally gave out.
To get to the shift forks you'll have to split the case. I don't do tranny work so I had my mechanic do that. I pulled the motor though and saved a couple hundred dollars. Thats also a good time to change pistons by the way, which I also had done. My 11.5:1 will be on Ebay in week or so.

I'm not speaking of Ironrod's case here, **** does happen as we all know, but just FYI for everybody many shift forks have been bent from shifting up under load without using the clutch, particularly in drags.
