Default Is it this bad everywhere??

Here, in Atlantic Canada, it has come to the point that the authorities label all ATV'ers as criminals...

As of late...not only the RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police, for you Americans ), but the Park Wardens, Forest Rangers and even DFO (Department of Fisheries and Oceans, don't ask me why though) are policing ATV'ers and trying to stop us for any minor thing (sometimes for nothing at all) we do on our ATVs. This does not only include paved and public roads...any road that is accesible and passable by automobile, it is illegal by law to operate an ATV in my area...

This includes fire and service roads...logging roads...dirt roads out in the pickers...beaches...public roads....The only place it seems we are safe is on the trails...but those idiots don't seem to understand we need to get to the trails to get on them...

I know there is a problem with ATV's on the streets and roads these days in my region..but they have taken it too far.

Today, while out riding in remote logging roads...I was riding slowly on 2nd gear practicing wheelies when I turn around and see a green Forest Rangers truck with it's lights flashing and him signalling me to pull the **** over...I actually thought about it a second..but last time I stopped for a cop while doing nothing wrong...I was fined 144$ no questions asked, and considering there was no traffic and no real danger...I tramped it like I stole it and lifted up a cloud of roost. Roosted all the way through 5th gear and lost him from sight in no-time...

All this to say...by trying to enforce these rules as much and giving harsher penalties...they are encouraging people to run and do some extreme things to avoid big fines. Let's face it, nobody wants a fine...especially when your doing nothing really wrong.

So, some will try to outrun the cops, most probably on public streets...where we know disasters can happen (that thread a few weeks ago by PureIntimidation called "Think before you run", is a perfect example...)

Just venting...sorry.

Jeff

Tyrespinner,

Most of the people around in my area are the same way man. I mean we have some GREAT trails, but the cops and DNR ecpect people not to use them anyway...... Everytime they stop you just to check registration or whatever they will always find an excuse to give a fine or tell you to you shouldn't be in the area and BLAH BLAH BLAH!!!!! Yes and I TOTALLY agree with you point about the necessity to use a road even if it is an atv route to get to a trail but they don't see that and slap you with a fine for riding on the road..... WTF people!!! The god dam atv route sign is right next to the f#ckin road but they would most likly get out of the truck and rip it out of the ground while they are saying it shouldn't be there and this and that, and F#CK YOU too! lol. But there is some really nice cops and DNR that will just roll up and bull$hit for a minute and go about there business........ Unlike most that will dam near tackle you just to ensure your not going to take off because they didn't see you registation sticker or whatever bull$hit excuse for need to write out a tickit for no apparent reason...
Oh and my favorite one is loud exhuast!!! The would be writing you the tickit for a loud pipe while 3 Harleys go by with straight pipes that rattle your f#ckin ears deaf which by the way SOUND LIKE **** TO BEGIN WITH!!!!!!! But no one ever thinks twice about that because "THEY SOUND SO COOL"..... Oh f#ck that! I can make my lawn mower sound like that with a 3 inch chunk of steel pipe and tell 'em to shove this up thier ***!!! I just don't know sometimes.... I just get so furious at this **** that I feel the need to choke some of dem sonna b!tches!!!

WHEW! I'm done now.......

Feel free to come to WV and ride where you'll actually be welcomed and as long as you stay off of private property, you'll never be hassled.

It's pretty much the same out west. The good thing here that has saved the industry is ATV off road sticker money. To ride in an ATV area, you have to have a sticker on your ATV. The sticker fund pays for the government to patrol and monitor the areas that are state approved. The more ATVs, the more sticker money, the more the government likes it! It's pretty hard now to shut down areas because now so many people have registered ATVs.

If I were you, I would look up on the web what your off road areas are.

I think they are being a bit harsh on you guys in Canada and other places, we all run in to these types of power trippers SUPER COPS, some think just cause they have a badge that they can enforce every little law such as quads not in "riding area" you should get the officers badge # and talk to his supervisor if you will, explain to him your situation and get on the upper [nice guy] level with them and get to highest rank...then find out where you can legally ride and get permission, then get about 10-15 of your quad riding buddies and put up some organised drags or trail rides. CLOSEST TO RESIDENTIAL OR BUSSINESS OR HIGHWAY AS LEGALLY POSSIBLE AND BE AS LOUD AND ANNOYING AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.... KICK UP AS MUCH DUST AS YOU CAN.....then when mr. super cop comes by to FLEX you have his bosses name and card and permission to ride where you are, and i guarantee you you can torture them this way along with the A$$hole that calls the cops on yall....trust me ive done this and i know it seems a bit xtreme but if you want to **** them off i think it works, do your own research on where you can ride and present it to the "head honcho law man".... it will be worth it in the long run if you love to ride, and it will save you some trouble with tickets...J.M.O.
