How to keep water out of the air box?
#1
I went creek riding this weekend and the airbox kept sucking water, I was only in about 6 -8 inches of water and it would pop and run bad from the water, I kept pulling the drain plug to let it out at stops but I am lookin for a solution.

Believe it or not, but when I took off the snorkels from the airbox I got less water in the airbox. I pluged the holes and ran with the lid off and now its rare for me to find water in the airbox. I also keep the drain plug off so that it water gets in, it will go right back out. Just stay out of the really deep stuff.

I know the feeling.. I belive it comes from the STEAM that rises off the motor when you hit water. It gets sucked in by the snorkles. At least with the lid removed it does not get sucked in , i has to splash in.. what you CAN do is leave the snrokles in just cut them down and put them straight up, that way water does not directly splash the filter.

I removed the snorkels, plugged their holes in the airbox to keep out splashes, and run lidless w/ outerwear, no drain plug. My filter stays much cleaner and dryer this way. its amazing ho wmuch roost dust and sand those snorkerls sucked in.
the top of the airbox is only a couple inches lower than the snorkels intake, so you lose no significant safe submergence depth in crossings.
no kidding, stay cleaner and dryer with no lid. and pick up the top end gain.
