i was telling everyone about the fast 450's i was running into, and i was . thought everyone was joking about the slow ones well i found out what you guys were talking about today. well there is something going on with those machines, theres mods or something because some i have raced are as fast as my machine, and today i saw one that was as slow as any machine on the market it lost to the v-force. so i don't know what gives but there is something going on with them.

hehe.. Yea, I bet you thought I was crazy huh? Glad to hear that they quit trying to kill your ego man... It does show how much potential that the YFZ has in it though if they are getting that kind of speed out of simple mods. Maybe you found some R&D bikes. I didn't know what to think when you said they were staying with you..hehehe

well i was there in florence with sandman today and he is right some of these 450smust have some kind of mods done because some are probably 5 or 6 quad lengths faster than others in a 300 foot race and that can only be because of mods to the motor not just rider error or lack of experience.i raced a 450 today on my raptor and i beat him easily and the rider was a light kid of probably no more than 100 lbs and 12 or 13 years old but he did seem to know how to ride.any yfz that can hang withy sandmans ds is very fast because as i have said before his ds is the fastest four stroke that i have ran into around here and i have seen and raced quite a few.

Today, Majorecho, Dsaholic, and myself were at sand mountain Ut and there was a kid there that had one. He got it last week and this was its inogeral outing. The kid seemed new to riding as DSA even showd him where the best spots to hit the whoops(which were not as bad as i have seen them by far) and a few pointers on how to take the whoops. Well let me tell you when that quad hit the hill my jaw hit the floor!!! That thing was sick fast. It ran right with DSA on the first race and on the second race, well I told DSa I wasnt going to say anything but I have to. DSA got a terrible(for reals he did, not an excuse)start and the 450 jumped out in fron to never be realed in. After today I became a real fan of the 450, I was sceptical before but not now. Yammy hit the nail on the head with that quad. Strange there are some slow ones out there but I have even seen that with DS's too. In the DS's defense the kid MATBE weighed in at 135. Thats a hude weight difference quad and rider wise.

I guess I'm slow. I haven't beat one yet. A friend has one and can eat my quad for lunch. When I was at our local riding area yesterday, there were three of them that rode the track with me. The sad part was none of them could get away from me. When I asked these guys what was up they thought that I had a faster quad. I almost let them believe that, but I couldn't. Turns out these guys are used to riding big bores and KFX's, etc. They aren't used to riding a two stroke. After your first ride on a 450 you realize they must be ridden like a two stroke. They weren't even getting close to the power and rev limiter. I guess until these guys know how to ride, I'll just have to make 'em feel bad that someone twice their weight can run with them.

2 things they need to be revved and they need to be uncorked! If they have the stock muffler they really seem to die off in the top RPM's but when you unplug them it is such a difference I could not believe! Also if you short shift them you are not doing it justice! They really need to be revved out like a 2 stroke. Some 4 stroke riders are not used to there 4 stroke revving to 11,000 RPM's and they shift before the real power!

I always had to quick shift my 250R. Than when I got my 450, I did the same thing because that's what I was used to. When I started
letting it rev way out before I shifted, I noticed my bike did much better in a drag race. It hits like a 2 stroke but the powerband is longer.
You have to let it rev out for a little while longer than the 2 stroke. My 250R would fall on it's face if I didn't shift in time. The 450 just
keeps pulling.
