No its not that easy i would say it is a inferior product poor hardening process. Your hub would have to be in bad shape too be that out of whack!!!

 

i've seen this (not quite as bad) with my 2000 DS and my 2001, with 16 or 17 tooth front sprockets, stock swingarm. in my opinion the chain is not in PERFECT alignment from the factory - chain is at very slight angle. it doesn't take but a milimeter or two to through off alignment. with my new +8" swingarm the chain is even more out of aligment.

 

My front sprockets alway look like that after a few rides. My stock 16 tooth has never looked like that but my aftermarket 14 and15 have. I think it is because they don't get the space flange quite right.

 

Ok well, I have only run 3 spockets, the original 16 no wear. The 15 I took off for the 14 I gave away, it did NOT seem worn. I rode the 15 yesterday and is has a mild wear. Looks like the paint was just rubbed off. Ok. so then why would my chain not tighen???

 

Ok, I kinda freaked for a second and ran out and looked at the bolt.. Well the NUT is on the chain side and ther is no wear on the nut.. The end of the bolt has a small flat spot on the top of the thread. But it would rethread if it was reverd out..
Also, there is SOME play when you move the sprocket in and out. it moves WITH the shaft in or out about 1mm.. just enough to see it move and feel it move. It has been like that since I got it..just a small slop. I wonder if my chain just grew?? I wonder if I had it TO tight with the 14 and with jumping it expanded?? hmmm..
Ok, so when I get my -1 swing arm I can probably count on a new chain with 1 or 2 less links?

 

My stock sprocket wore like that. Then a few weeks later I noticed that my axle bearings were bad. New bearings and a new sprocket (titax) over 1 year on sprocket and o noticible wear.

 

your chain rubbing that bolt has also been pushing the chain towards the outside, contributing to your wear on the sprocket, and damaging the bolt. you need to remove the bolt and turn it around, so the excess length is on the left side of the bike and the chain will clear the head easily on the right side then.
and I agree with Scooby, my chain is slightly misaligned too, I have wear on all my sprockets like your pic, just not as severe.
