Your friend's bike must have some MAJOR problems. I know of a couple of 440exs with cam, carb, and porting that will absolutely SMOKE a DS that is only piped, jetted and have a cdi. I know from experience cause i race them almost every weekend and they CONSISTANTLY outrun me by 0.2 seconds at 300'. Thats about 2 bike lengths.

Seems like, to the best of my knowledge, the yzf426 dynos around 49 rwhp bone stock. Yeah if I was him i'd definately be giving Powroll a call.

 

I am having no trouble with the 450's in 300 ft drags and my engine is BONE STOCK. I think their light weight allows them to get out of the hole good and that lets their top end look better but they do not have enough torque to pull with a DS if its getting traction. If your getting beat by a 450 then work on getting power to the ground a DS has plenty enough to get the job done.

I have one of those 440's [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img] and don't belive everthing you hear or read the YZFf450 no's are not that impressive.you must remember the ds was souposed to be around 40-42 i never had a stock ds go over 34hp. factory's lie and so do shops!!

 

I was at St Joes Sat. The 450's would not even race me on my trail bike. There was one that told Pudjumper that he hadn't been beat by a DS or Raptor. The 450 was piped and the works. Pud said when he left he wasn't saying that any more.

the 450's around here seem to go to ways stock and slow and something else and fast, which is all good it adds to the excitement of racing. i think azsand has a good point i don't see how something that light and powerful can hold together. as far as the honda goes you can make those thing somewhat fast, i know my son surprises a lot of people, but, then again he weighs like 84 pounds so stock would be fast for him.

The DS is so freaky-deaky fast on pavement...It's incredible.... I ride on dirt/sand/grass and it doesn't even compare to the arm pull of on pavement...Traction is what these beasts need.

 

For the people doubting me, my cousin with the yzf440 powered 250r and me with my DS650 raced on pavement.... SO we were both getting maximum traction and I still got him by 2-3 quad lengths in 300 feet.. On gravel he pulled me by 2 quad lengths untill I hit 5th gear and I passed him..... So I'm not too worried about the new 450's that arn't even built up as much as my cousins 440...[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

 

I have recently come to the same conclusion. The 22" 8 paddle extremes that I bought just aren't enough. The few times that I got a good hookup I did really well, but more often than not, I just spun and lost[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-disgusted.gif[/img]

I was racing a stock (I looked it over really close) Predator and got waxed every time up the hill. He was running 12 paddle extremes. I'm gonna get some new rubber, because I HATE LOSING!!!!

 

ive just got pipe, carb mount and CDI, and 15t, and 20" haulers, and beat a 440ex running straight alcohol( with 4 Ext. swingarm with haulers), beat him by about 1/2 bike length at 300 ft..... I havent raced a 450 yet but doubt there any faster than that modded EX was.. He was beating all the stock Raptors and DS, but i took him with few small mods
saw one at the local dunes this weekend... he wouldnt race.. but it sounded AWSOME those bikes are SWEET!!... cant wait for hondas release.. if there smart itll be fuel injected!!
