Bombardier getting out?
No they're not getting out of nothing!
The company is just splitting its recreational side from the airplane/transportation side!
The original Bombardier family will be with the recreational devision, which includes Bomb atv's, SkiDoo, SeaDoo, Johnson, Evinrude, Rotax, etc.

Bombardier getting out?
It looks to me that they are selling all of the recreation lines (Atvs Seadoo, Skidoo). It doesn't say to who though. They also said that they will sell it as a whole and not to a current competitor. They are looking for buyers it is clear.
They want out of the industry

Bombardier getting out?
From the dictionary:
"divestiture = The sale, liquidation, or spinoff of a corporate division or subsidiary"
That says getting out of the business to me. It does not mean the same thing as a Canondale scenario. It just means they are goingto sell the recreation part of their company to another company/organization. I have to say that I am not suprised though. My dealer (Whiteknuckle Motorsports in springville) just dropped Bombardier as he said that they were getting harder and harder to deal with.

Bombardier getting out?
This has come up about ten times before, Bombardier will still be the brand name, however the only difference is that Bombardier recreational products will no longer be a part of Bombardier, Inc. (I believe that is what they go by.) The Bombardier family, who started the Bombardier Inc. company (The allowed it to become it's own entity as I understand it) is the primary potential buyer for Bombardier recreational products.
There really isn't anything to note as being different, Bombardier the company who makes everything from leer jets to the metro link rail cars and high speed trains and other wierd stuff, no longer wants to sell recreational products so they are sell that division. The recreational division isn't going to vanish, so no big deal.
If you do a search, you'll find that this topic has come up literally about ten times before, and there is always a lot of talk about it, ending in the same conclusion = it's no big deal.
