Well, it depends, the update time is 2.5 seconds, which is good for a digital style tach (I've heard many digital tachs are 4.0 seconds update) however in 2.5 seconds I think you could rev from 1300 to 8-9000 pretty easy. The hour meter sounds cool though. If you only want the tach for reference and not 'real time' it could work out. The price is nice, $40.

actually ya i have one....my cousin bought it for his kodiak but for some reason didnt use it so gave it to me

it CANT be 2.5 second update.... because i can pin the throttle and it will flash like 3k...then like 4 some k....has to be like a 1.5 second update...

the hour meter comes in REALLY handy (i never pay attention to the actual TACH part, cuz the baja has a tach....) now i know exactly when she wants fresh oil

Do you think it would be worth it as a alternative to the Baja tach... 200+ $ no ty...

Also is it accurate right along with the Baja one?

I have one on my 300ex and it works pretty good but It doesnt have a backlight so you cant see it a night. The update rate is faster than 2.5 seconds.

Sweet... I do none/rarely any riding at night so the backlight doesn't bother me... And if I do drive at night...I probably won't need the tach .

What's involved in the installation?

ya i would much rather have this than a 200 dollar tach...

yes its accurate

all you have to do to install it is undo a bolt on your engine (any place, i chose the engine mount)

put the metal ring under the bolt and retighten it

then u just mount the tach on your bars or plastic

Doesn't it need to be connected to the spark plug wire!??

there is a red cord that is flexible, and it just coils around the spark plug wire

Yes its self powered and one wire to wrap around a plug wire ,no sweat. It also has auto shut off and power up when engine starts. I mounted mine in the plastic shroud over the handlebars on my 300ex. It also measures to I believe 20,000 rpm so it would even work on a cannondale.
