Default Stuck in Gear

Today I raced in a harescramble everything was fine, until I got it home washed her off and noticed the nuteral light was on even when in gear. It will also start without pulling in the clutch. My problem is I get nuetral and 1st just fine but nothing above that. Am I in for a huge repair or is it something minor.

YEP! You will need some new shift forks. The good news is they are only $45.00 a piece and you will need 2. The bad news is you have to tear your motor down to fix them. Make sure you get the new updated shift forks though.

Have you tried manipulating the clutch in and out and maybe try moving the quad from front to back...

Keep us posted.

If it doesn't end up being the clutch and it does end up being your shift forks, you should consider changing out your shift shaft as well (you are already in there and it is only another $50 probably for the part.

You may also need to get your gears undercut. I just got mine back (cost is about $330 for magnaflux and undercutting.) The engagement dogs are undercut so when you shift the momentum of the motor pulls them in rather than allowing them to skip over the tops of themselves.

Have you been missing shifts much? They may be pretty warn if so.

I could be wrong but, I haven't heard of "stuck in gear" as a symptom of a bent shift fork (usually the symptom is missed shifts.) Anyone know what happens when you get a bent shift shaft?

If you do have to split the cases this is the time to consider any engine mods you may have been thinking about.

I haven't really missed any shifts I did shift without the clutch a few times in the race though. It's just wierd that first and nuetral are fine but once I go for second it acts like it's jammed.

If anyone asks why you've got it taken apart, be sure & tell em you took it apart to get some new high performance parts

More info for you here: F650

If you don't want to take on the job yourself and can't find anyone willing to do it for less than $500-$600 (+ parts) let me know. I can check with my local guy to see what he would charge for the labor. Nothing in it for me just hate to see you drop $1,000 at the dealer for this work!.
