DS Tranny Web Sites

Does anyone know of a site that gives step by step R&R of the gear box on these things. With pics would be real nice. When it comes time to replace my shift fork or forks Im going to attempt to do it my self. My brother did his 660 with the aid of a site like this for the raptor.

Here's the link to buttfungus website.
Buttfungus
It doesn't have what he's looking for. There's a lot of knowledgable DS guys here. It would sure be helpful to the DS owners to have a website like this to refer to, to do your own repairs and save lots of money by doing it yourself. The repair manuals are a joke when it comes to repairs like these. Maybe somebody will take the time to put a site together. I know Ds guys don't need to do repairs like this as often as a Raptor owner does but when it comes time, it'd be helpful for sure.

Humm, well, if the preacher needs the web space for the tutorial and pics i have plenty of that. Like dave says it would be a great help to those of us that don't mind doing the work our selfs. I am more than capable of doing it. I would of corse feel better with a guide to go off of. When the time comes for the work to be necessary I may have someone else do it if I don't think i'll have the time to do it my self. I'll let ya know Tony and you can head me in the right direction

Larry, Are you replacing all shift forks?? I mopped my shift forks up today very badly [non-stop drags] new ones too, 3rds missin once or twice, so all must be out of whack!, and I dont know if you have to split the cases or not, I had to get new shift forks on the other ds..can you let me know what the best way to fix the shift forks would be, I dont want to have to send motor off again?thanks btw, preach is the one to talk to if you have to split cases you may want to tinker with some other stuff while in bottom end. They recomend upgraded shift forks for our year DSs..

No question. . . Mike has a great site and has done a great job putting it together (Raptortranny.com) I used the site when I tore into my Wife's Raptor for the 686 kit on it. Even called Mike when I had a question.
Quickly - get the gears undercut to prevent future gear issues.
Now - here would be my business plan if I were to do something like Raptortranny:
If anyone is interested in a little extra money and can put together a site like this I'm sure it is an investment that you could get to pay off!
If I were to do it I would spend a day with my engine builder standing behind him taking pictures and writing things down while he took things apart. Probably cost about $300-$500 for the labor but, you would get your shift forks upgraded at the same time.
Now all you have to do is come up with a solution to a DS issue and sell the parts for this as a kit (that is the tough part!) The DS doesn't have any bad parts that haven't been improved upon by the factory.
You could - offer undercutting of the gears (this would entail sending off the gears and undercutting the engagement dogs - I just got mine back and it cost about $330 for the magnaflux and undercutting. Nice thing is now the greater the force the more the gears want to pull-in to eachother (which is what bent or warn shift forks prevents.)
Additionally, you could offer other aftermarket DS parts, etc.
I think Raptortranny has a good business plan even if it wasn't originally set up that way I'm sure with all the one-ways it is working out well for him.
