Ironrod, did you ever find out why 2004 DS's are supposed to be faster than older versions other than weight? Anyone know?

doesn't seem anyone knows yet. but i'd say there about the same as your quad based on the last time we raced at comp, that was 22" rear paddles and 16-40 on the 04 so the 15-42 would help it a little. i don't know what you've done since march so don't think i was saying anything bad. and that was also base on very loose sand at sand mountain our hill is so short it might not show the same, there is times if i get a bad start that the 720 can lose to the stage two and at sand mountain it wasn't even a race. found any new tricks to share with the oregon ds's? well i'm stuck another weekend with sports, at least it is raining, so the riding wouldn't be great.

I have actually been trying for the last year to equal my friends quad. He's hardly touched his and was always faster. Now I'm dead even he wants to get faster so now I have to reach into a whole new bag of tricks. My goal is to make my DS as fast as I can in stock form before possibly a 720 from TVI or swapping engines.
I read your post saying that comp had changed at Florence and your right it's the most different I've ever seen. I've also noticed the difference the sand can make to my bikes run just by being dry or wet.

funny you should say difficult, that is what i thought also but i just thought it was the day. i even put on the + 4 swingarm and it was hard. well maybe it time to start flat drags out on the flats by the beach access. one thing that is different on the 04 is the rev limiter or cdi actually works pretty well.
