21:1 compression!!! Is it possible????

Ive had the experience to see those TOp Fuel Harleys runs in person. That are jsut plain nuts!!! If I remember correctly, they are somewhere around 170ci, 700 HP, and they run on nitromethene. The best part about it is that they were staying right with those crotch rockets

Remember guys... on the diesels ... the fuel is delivered separately from the air. The air goes in... gets compressed... and then the fuel is injected... essentially when the spark plug would go off on a gasoline engine. The high compression creates the heat required to light off the less flamable diesel fuel.

i'm not sure what the top fuel harleys run but i don't think it's quit that high. BibBadScrambler is right about the C.I they run from 150 to 180 and put out right at 400hp per jug! but they do more than keep up with the crotch rocket. i think the best for the NHRA bike is in the 180 range but the harleys are hitting over 200 and in the low 6's. man i would love to make one pass on one of those, i get the big head when my busa hit's the low 9's. i like the way the rider just gets off the bike in the pits and it just sets there on that HUGE back slick, no need for a kick stand!

Scooby,
I tried getting ahold of somebody with Vance&Hines, but I had no luck.
I dont know what it takes, but I would definatley try it!!
Compression ration, is how far the piston travels up in the head right? So I think were talking about having a custom piston made, and head work the match. but I dont know
BIgger.

How the hell you going to start it??????? No bolt on electric starter I know of will turn that. Also kick starting would be funny, One good kick and WEEEEEEE over the bars!

Isn't Compression ratio the ratio of volumn of the engine at BDC : TDC?
If you have a longer stroke don't you get more compression if you go just as high towards the head as you were before?

Good question, I wish I knew.
I want a engine builder to explain to me with COMPRESSION RATIO is. And I want him to tell me how I can acheive 21:1 compression on my DS.
Anybody know somebody that can tell us this stuff???? I 'm serious, I WILL try it if doesnt cost $$$$$$ to do.
