Default problems with my 45mm

i just bought and installed my 45 ,it runs great on the low end but on the high end it kinda bogs-its still better than when it was a stock carb, it also pops a little in the exaught when i run the rpms up in a gear and let off.is this a sign of being to rich or am i just being to paranoid

What elevation are you at?? what main jet do you have in it? what octane fuel are you running..do you have accelorator pump??
If you dont have accelorator pump , it sounds too rich.

I run a 140 main jet at 4000-5000ft with tm 45 it made great power, needle one groove richer than middle position.. How do you know its lean, did you look at the plug?? if needle is placed in correct position and it is still running hot- go richer with main, for that elevation I got different plug readings just by playing with the air fuel mixture, 1 1/2 turns out is the way to go! , I dont care what anyone says..If you run it 2 -2 1/2 out it WILL give you a lean plug reading and maybe even less power, due to your elevation [thin air].

The way the carb comes from ron wood is usually set up for sea level with 145mj, so if your at 5000ft I would run a 140mj..I got the top end bog when running too rich...This is w/out acc-pump...

ok .. i tried to go smaller and the popping in my exaust gets worse . so i jetted it up to a 152.5 and the bike started to run real good.but i still have a little popping. do i need to jet back down and move the needle or should i keep jetting up.oh yah my elavation is 1300 ft ----i told u it was 5000 ---(my bad)------also ,my quad is going through the gas real bad,my gas mileage is cut in half.

the popping when you let off the throttle typically comes only from improper idle mixture, unless there is a problem, which is doubtful since its all new. so set the idle mixture screw according to tuning manual directions - remember bike must be fully warmed up first. the manual is exactly right, it really is as easy as it says it is so just follow its dircetions for correct pilot selection too prior to activating your pump.
if you can't get a stumble when turning out the idle mixture screw its because the pilot is too big, just the manual says.

You can download the same manual that I got from RWR at this site, just click on HSR Tuning Manual.
