Default Bike Stopping/Overheating 10-15 mintues riding

01 DS and first problem I have had is after riding (glamis) for 10-15 minutes the bike shuts off. I did not hear the fan kick on and I did not see the red light (but it was in the middle of the day) come on. Waiting for the engine to cool a bit and firing it back up it runs like a champ until it gets hot and shuts off again. I suspect it is the fan but wanted to hear other opinions or comments. Thanksgiving is not far away and it looks better running through the sand then sitting on the trailer!!!

I doubt that it is overheating if it'll crank and run fine after sitting a few minutes. Does it just quit, like the kill switch has been turned off? I would check for spark when it quits. If no spark, maybe CDI, loose wiring or connectors in the ignition circuit, etc...

It might be vapor lock check your vent hose on the gas tank. Or the next time it shuts break open the gas cap and try to re start.

sounds more like vapor lock check the end of the vent tube and see if it is blocked, you can wire in a switch pretty easy to run the fan when you want.

Thanks for the information. I will check the vent tube for vapor locking. It does spit and sputter for a few seconds before it dies. I will also try cracking open the gas tank and letting it air out.

It might just be qc (quad correct) and nicely waiting for the other atvs' to catch up, without being rude.

QC is correct most of the time. Does anyone know if the quad will stop running if the radiator fan does not kick on????

Quadman650 what did you do to solve the problem? I don't think my fan is working right now...planning on testing that later tonight.
