Default Jetting question

I would like to eventually pipe and jet my 04 Baja X. In the past I've always had 2 strokes and it seemed like I was always working on them. If there was a big change in temporature it would need to be re-jetted.
My question is this, if the Ds is piped will it be the same as my 2-stroke was. I bought my Ds because it's a 4-stroke and more reliable and I don't want to change that.
Any advice or opinions??

Colin

Default Jetting question

Well finally, a fellow West Virginian! I recall when I had a stock carb and went with a pipe, clamp on filter (no airbox) and CDI. I had a jet kit installed and never had to touch the jetting from 95 degrees to 25 degrees, I think I had the 190 main in mine. It ran strong all year long & was not picky at all. Of course she ran a little crisper in the winter, but not to the point of concern of being too lean. On the other hand, my TM 45 is just the opposite...I'm always rejetting with temp. & altitude changes. And I know what you mean about the 2 smokes, my KTM 380 will want a jetting change with what seems like a 15 degree temp. change, all worthwhile though! In conclusion, definitely feel confident that you'll have no worries with that stock carb. In the jet kit there will be settings for stage I & II or maybe stage II & III, don't remember, anyway the only difference was if you kept the airbox or not. Mine ran great with what the suggested settings were for no airbox. Procede with confidence!

Default Jetting question

I'm glad to see I'm not the only Ds in West Virginia! Thanks for the help. Currently my Baja X is stock, but eventually I would like to do some mild mods. Just don't want to be always working on it.
Thanks again,

Colin

If you piped it and got a new filter you wont always be working on it. The first day jetting you might be, the stock carb isnt to picky on jetting. Just get it to where you feel it runs good and you shouldnt have a problem with it after that.
