Default Sand tire question

I have the new ITP sand star tires, 20in size. I could not get a good holeshot, I just kept spinning. Starting in 1st got me nowhere, so I would start in 2nd at about 4 tho RPM. I would spin for a good 20 ft before it grabbed but by that time I was last, But a soon as I hit the bottom of the hill I shifted to 3rd and would catch and pass most people before the top. Is there a better tire for getting the holeshot or do they all spin off the line. I just notticed other bikes coming off the line doing a wheelie with haulers. anyone have the haulers, or the taller haulers, how do they hookup.

what gearing are you running, I have a 15t in front and stock in back, I think 40t, could be wrong. do you start in 1st or 2nd, will she bog in 2nd with the 22's. and 8 or 10 paddle? Sorry for all the ?'s, I dont want to spend more money on another set of tires that dont hook up to good, although they are good all around riding tires. I'll probably keep them for spares.

22inch extremes are what I use. 10 paddles. They hook up nicely. Using stock gearing.

I have what 1BigDSRider has, but you may want to get less paddles, maybe 7-9 paddles.

If you had gotten the ITP in 22X11X10 you might have been ok. The DS work best with larger tires. You could try a 17T front sprocket to cut down on the wheel spin.

Yea, I did not think about that until it was too late. I put my cousins 21in haulers next to my 22in holeshots and the haulers were taller, thats why I went with the smaller size, I guess they just measure them different. The 20in ITP's are way smaller than my holeshots. I am going to order some 22in haulers to fit my 10in rims. I wish they made a 22in x 9 rim so I could use my stock rims that I do not use ever.

Maybe next time I race I'll go on a diet.......Front fenders, nerfs, heal guards, Etc. LOL

you will never like those tires as much as haulers, but you might try a 14 front sprocket and see what that does for you, they sell them at rocky mt. for like 13 bucks, you would start in second then.

I never use 1st unless dragging from the very bottom of the sand hill. 20" sand sharks, just sit back further and let the front end come up a bit. The front of the DS is so heavy that the rear wants to spin without the weight back there. "When in doubt, give it gas..."

I'm sure the 22's will allow you to use first gear more.
