Default Clutch?

If you replace the clutch plates due you need to replace the clutch springs at the same time? Are there any other parts IE seal that this will be a good time to replace?

Good time to replace the water pump shaft and I can't remember if the seals. The shaft gets worn down and coolant will leak through to the oil over time.

The clutch cover gasket is re-usable but, I think it is only about $7 so you may want to replace. Be careful putting it back on. Assembly lube on some of the alignment shafts / bolts is an easier way to assemble.

Good idea to soak your clutch plates in oil prior to assembly.

As for the clutch springs. . . how old are yours? I haven't heard of many people replacing their clutch plates on the DS (seem to last a long time.) If your clutch was slipping it is time for heavy duty clutch springs (TVI, Ron Wood or Pami.)

I agree with Duneme, soak your plates for at least a couple of hours or overnight if you can. Also since you are in there I would put in some new ron woods 60% spring and use a new gasket, it only cost another $35 for piece of mind that it is all done right.

I am just having a hard time shifting the gears up or into neutral. I hope this work before I have too split the case. I due not hit any false neutrals and it does not pop out of gear.

You may be on the right track because it sounds like your plates are not relaeasing enough to allow an easy nutural. But first, have you installed a hyd clutch or a easy pull device that reduces your clutch pull effort? If so, that may be where your problem is. It may be case of not enough relaese travel to completely release the plates.
If your clutch actuation is stock your problem could be caused by some warped plates which will require their replacement. It could be the metal plates as well so you better check them when you have it apart.
One other possability is the clutch linkage rod and gear that are worn and ready to break.

Does that grove go all the way around the Clutch hub? Does is match up with where one of the steel plates sits? If it does, thats not a good sign and prolly should be changed.
