Default Ron Woods Alky Kit

This is what came in my RWR Alky kit

Dellorto Main Jets 270 285 290 295 300 310 320 330
Pilot jets 55 57.5 60 62.5 65
95 Needle
Needle jet drilled to .125 in
Main jet extender for Dellorto jets
Large needle and seat for alky
Pump rod with rubber boot, spring and screw.

I have started with a 300 main, 55 pilot with pump activated, 95 needle mid notch.

After a couple runs down the road, I did a plug check, they were wet, Does this mean too rich, should I drop to a 40 pilot with the pump. Any sugestions would help. I did lower the clip to 4th from top and noticed more backfiring from exhaust, will go back to mid or 2nd notch. what do you think. Also ordering an egt sensor Monday, probably be in thurs of fri, what temp should I look far at what RPM's.

The 285 main would be closer to what it needs and that may still be a little rich. I don't run a pump with alky ,you don't really need it because alky is so forgiving. You do need a richer pilot with out the pump though. Your back fire is from unburned gas in the pipe lighting. The richer it is the worse it will be. Your jet tub should be a y-8.

The jet tube that came in the kit is a y-6, I think, its in the carb, but both have the #723 in them, same as stock, they said it has been drilled to .125in. Is this ok or do I need the y-8. Have you ever heard of someone using the pump with a smaller pilot, if it causes a problem I will just disable it.

I know the stock jet tub is a Y-6. If it came from RW's and they drilled it , it should be fine. I usually drill my pilots out to like .064 ,I think this is right I don't have my note book in front of me were I keep my tuning specs. I run my needle ( 95 ) 1 clip from the bottom and like a 270 main. It depends on the weather , hot or cold. The pump is fine for gas ,but I really don't think you need it for alky. Mine is so responsive that you can't even take off with out it wanting to stand up. Its all in what you want. If you mess with any think long enough you can usually make it work.

The drill size for the pilot is # 52. The rich/lean screw is 3/4 turn out.

Hope this helps.

I don't have those bits that you have but I found a bit that miked out at .062 ad used that one, Put in a 185 main and left the needle at 95, fourth notch, air screw at about 1 turn. Going to do some fine tuning when my thermocouple comes in. I already mounted the EGT guage and it looks pretty good, check out my pics. What temp should I look far, is 1300 the "red line" so to speak.

Where can you get special bit to drill jets?
