CDI : Which is best?
#2
1) What DS quad do you have?
3) Do you ride slow and fast or both?
3) Are rev limits important to you? do you have motor mods sufficient to where you can (either by accident or on purpose) float the valves?
4) How much do you want to spend?

IronRod
All good questions. I am do not want to make any internal mods. I ride mostly desert trails and some dune climbing. I just put a new end cap on my 03 DS. Otherwise it is stock. I noticed I am hitting the rev. limiteer much more often now and would like a higher redline. I am concerned about over revving so the RWR is probably not the one I want.

Ok, then RWR is out. That leaves the following that I know of.
1) Vortex CDI - See the other thread about that one
2) Big Gun CDI. Rev limit at around 8500 rpm. (actually, Big Gun says its 1000 RPM over stock)
3) Generic CDI (Chinese made) - Alba sells them - about 1000 RPM over stock
4) MSD - I dont know a lot about this one.
5) Dyna (not out yet)
You'll have more flexability with the Vortex, but its about a 100 bucks more than the going rate on the Big Gun. Most people go with either simple (big gun) and cheap or complex (Vortex, MSD) and more expensive. The Big Gun is clean and simple no frills, and plenty of room to install it. The Vortex is good too. Other folks have the MSD and they seem to like it.
