Why have you trashed your turbo EFI idea?

Scooby, you mention that the DS will likely cease to exist within a few years if no major changes are made? What would possible make you assume that Bombardier will make no changes? I am personally pleased to see a large and succesful company like Bombardier make such a commitment to becoming a major player in the ATV market. I have seen only continued innovation and nothing to indicate thet they don't intend to remain for many years to come. Please remember that we're all living through the first year of life for a new model and a new manufacturer. I personally will be shocked if the 2001 DS doesn't have many of the first year bugs ironed out. I think in response to questions about the DS's size we might even see it sold alongside a smaller racier sport machine from Bombardier. Finally I hope we are entering an era where no machine will survive in the market without any signifigant changes for a "few years" Those were the dark times and we can see the lihgt at the end of the tunnel!

I think Bombardier has shown already that they plan to make changes and do new things with thier ATVs. Look at the Traxter which got turned into the Traxter XT. Imagine taking a DS650, and doing something along the lines of turning it into a "DS650 XT." I believe we would have yet, another winner. It is concievable, they could make a few models, maybe one that sits lower and is narrower (to please those whiners who say it is too wide - personally Wider IS Better!) or another that is a little different in some other ways. Personally, I'm just waiting to see Bombardier upgrade that thing to EFI (No turbo) then I'd be all over it (again) like a buzzard on a gutwagon.

You must have alot of this stuff ($). You say your going to trade the 400ex for a Raptor when they come out, which is only a few months. If you ever have extra dough send it to MXZ for a trade from a Recon to a 400EX.

2000 Recon
Great Quad, No Problems yet

atvinstructor, No I haven't ordered a Raptor yet. I am trying to decide what to do with the DS. The weight/width/handling are the problems for me. The motor can be made to kick butt, but is bulky. As I mentioned, I could keep the DS and buy a second ATV or sell the DS and buy one or two better quads.

Arizona650, The 2001 DS will have many of the first year BUGS ironed out, because some of them have been fixed already in the second production run. However, there is nothing else that has been improved or re-designed. New tires is all you get. There is no new companion sport model for 2001.

I'm aware that there is no companion model in the wings for 2001. I feel, however, that Bombardier has made an impressive commitment to the market and don't anticipate that they will stand pat in the model years to come.
