well i have 2 picts of it in my webshots account, so just go to the link in my sig and go the the 250r section,
and after talking with the guy it doesn't sound like a bad deal, and he said the price is a lil negotiable, so thats good, wat do you think would be a good starting offer? i was thinking like 2500 and go from there, the only thing i don't like are the gold stuff, and the back tires suck but he told me that over the phone so i like his honesty

Well, the pictures are nice, but how about the chassis (frame?) Be sure to stand it up on the grab bar! I have a friend who bought a 250x that was a 'good deal' until I stood it up (first thing I did when I came to look at it after he bought it) and whooops! the Frame was bent about one inch to the left. Something you couldn't see from the top, but with it standing up it kinda hit him like a ton of bricks. He still rode it & loved it though! Just don't get your heart into it - be 100000% objective and if you REALLY want it - br4ing another person to see it. If it looks good to one, two then three people you have good odds of being OK. I think the gold color junk was Honda standard - there is only one way to get around that.....

well my brother will definetly be going with me, and probably one of his friends, and i'll be sure to stand it up on the grab bar and look for any cracks, he did say the one tie rod end is starting to get a lil loose,

i have a 86 R and love it. i acquired it about 1.5 yrs ago and it is in excellent condition. so much so that people are amazed that it is 17yrs old. even more suprising is when it runs circles around the new z400s, 400exs, and some of the raptor boys. havent got to race a 450 yet. im curious even though i prob get beat. but if you got a shot at an R, get it! i was to get a 1988 model in 1989. i didnt... then honda pulled out and the market got screwed over for YEARS. now many years later i finally bought my R. it wasnt an 88 like i wanted back then but I really like it. the 86 has a short rod engine- and it revs faster and IS faster than the later years despite what is told here. I know, ive raced them. They think mine is pumped up but it is not. also the 86 has a slightly longer wheelbase - whick i like. doesnt have the alum swingarm from 88-89 though...

well i printed off the picts for my bro, he doesn't like it, besides the fact that its 2stroke and thats its about to blow up any second because it hasn't be rebuilt in 2 years, he don't like the gold rims n swingarm, who cares thats wat paint it for, he wants me to get another ds or a 400ex, except i can't afford that, urgh,

Are you paying for it on your own, or is he helping out? I'm sure you know I have two DSs so I can tell you it's a really good thing to have two of them. (It makes maintenance a breeze! - sort of...) Sounds like he's big on the 4-strokes - I kinda agree. How much of the mechanic work do you do, vs. your brother? Doesn't sound like the 250R is gonna work though if he is pretty Anti- 2 Stroke.

no i'm paying for it on my own, but i'm going to have to get my parents to help me get a loan, and they're not too happy about it being from 1986, but they don't know much about quads so they have no idea wat kinda deal this could be, and ya i do know that you have too and i'd like to get another but now the cheapest one is like 6600 and its been in the trader for like 2 months now, of course like 3 weeks ago there was one for like 5000 that he wanted to get rid of quickly before christmas, i shoulda bought that one, too late now ,
as far as mechanic work we're about even, learned alot on my last quad(1984 Suzuki LT185), well hes not really anti 2-stroke, he rides a 2000 Ski-doo MXZ700, which is two stroke, as all of his sleds were, and his old dirtbike was too, but that thing blew up alot, n he thinks this 250r will be the same way, or atleast thats wat hes worried about,
slowride - lol thats kinda wierd, my buddy called not long after my last post here and said the same thing,

Hey Lilnotts, the R looks good and you may be getting a pretty good deal on it. It has number plates on it... So it's been on the track, bikes that race GNCC or MX take a beating on the front end. They are usually maintained really good but I would look very close at the frame. Has the guy said anything about the bikes history? Usually when race bikes are sold they will strip all the spendy stuff off of them and replace it with whatever stock pieces they have laying around. So you may have to do some tuning to get it right, or you may have to buy some stuff to make a good combination out of what you get. I think the gold is cool...
