jetting?
#2
I went from a stage II to a 720 and the jetting changed considerably. I had to drop the main down to a 142.5 from 147.5, the 97 needle went from clip #2 to clip #1 and the pilot went from 42 to 40. Obviously this is on a Mikuni TM 45. Without question you will want to run the accelerator pump, the added displacement with that squirt of fuel right off idle makes for a ton of bottom end, I ended up using the 50 accel. pump jet and tuned it for just a short burst and aimed the squirt to the right of the needle. Many will tell you to aim the squirt right at the needle to better atomize the fuel but if you shorten the squirt duration and aim it right down the intake you will save fuel and actually gain performance, believe me I have tried about a million setups. The Mikuni manual says to hit the needle. Ron Wood says the manual is incorrect and to aim it to the right. My local Harley Davidson service tech says to aim it to the right (TM 45 is a Screaming Eagle performance item). Sudco International says to aim it to the right. Carb Parts Warehouse says to aim it to the right. I'm sure there will be posts to follow that disagree. Anyway, this setup is for 25-35 degree temps at about 1850 feet elevation, in essence, this big bore really likes it lean.

I just looked at your sig after posting. You may end up with a slightly fatter setup with your main and needle position considering you have the big valves and race cams, I have stock valves and Web 109 cams. Your head is going to want a little more fuel on top end.
