Default does anyone know ?

does anyone know what the effect of wraping the stock exhaust with heat tape would be. They say it keeps the pipe hotter so the exhaust gases flow better. If any one knows, I would like the pos and neg effect.

Positives: Keeps heat (energy) in the pipe where it belongs. Better exhaust scavenging with a 2 cyl header combo. Keeps from burning the crap out of your ________ (insert body part) when your quad lands on you, after you try that big hill!!!!

Negitives: In one word, rust. When the wrap gets wet it will suck up water and hold it against the pipe. Also if a stick rips some of it off on the trail you will look like mummy with a tail!!!!

I have only heard that you want to keep it cooler for longer engine life. But thats usually from the folks that make ceramic coated exhaust systems. I dont have any idea how heat tape would affect performance. Does it feel faster?

I could not tell if it were any faster, But it did seem to run leaner.

If you have a good pipe on it, that very possible. Like I said above, better exhaust scavenging, and you will go leaner.
