I have never heard of any problems with the factory synthetic. I ran it for the first 500 hours of my machine's life. No problems, and I have been running the rotella synthetic for the last 53 hours with still no motor problems.

I use Silkoline 10,50 fully synthetic (for bikes) no problems.
In fact in all the years ive been involved with motorcycles i have never heard any clutch fail due to synthetic oil, as long as it is specified for bike use. I have had a clutch fail on a two stroke road bike which was losing gear oil far from home and all i could get was car motor oil (mineral) due to the afore mentiond friction modifiers.

so stick with bike oils and you should have no problems.

Exactly. It's not like BRP has their own refinery / chemical plant. They are just re-selling someone else's oem product.

I will never use a full synthetic in my quad again. I ran Mobil 1 MX4T in my 400EX only to encounter clutch slippage. It never done that with the dino. I'm might try a synthetic blend but never a full synthetic....................

I plan on using Valvoline's: atv or motorcycle oil (mineral) I found at my local Autozone store. It's $2.99 a quart in either 10w40 or 20w50. On the bottle, it mentions thats its excellent in wet clutches (no slipping) and contains additives such as phosphorous and zinc - both critical in the connecting rod and cam areas for wear reduction. Automobile oils do not contain much of these elements since they cause the platinum in catalytic convertors to break down. What ever oil you run, just never use automobile oil 5w30 or 10w30. These have friction modifiers and will cause clutch slipping.

I have been running Spectro 10w40 non synthetic in both my ds's and my friends ds for 3 years and have not had any problems. Clutches work great and have had no slippage problems.

I use klotz in my ds. its spendy. but, I like it. I was wondering about yamalube. I run it in my blaster and yfz. it is $2.29 a quart from RMA. less if you buy 6 or 12 quarts. seems pretty resonable to me.
