Quest 650 tire size issues?
I have a 2002 650, it came stock with 25" front and 26" rear tires. when I upgraded tires the dealer told me keep 1 inch diff. between front and rear. I went with 27 R 26 F. I notice now that the quest's come with equal sized tires all around, which is the only way that makes any sense because even normal wear would change the ratios. i wonder if they changed anything at all, and if that part can be fitted onto my bike so I can even things out. any info ? any one?

Quest 650 tire size issues?
Mfg claimed tire sizes are ambiguous, kinda like some dyno graphs and weight loss programs! One mfg 25" may be 2" shorter than another mfg's 25". Even the same mfg's tire height may vary because of the width of the tire and the width of the wheel it's mounted on.
Carlisle claims the tires are the same size on the 2004 as the older units - they just rerated the claimed numbers to be more accurate.
The important thing is that you maintain the same offset from front to back as it was originally. Don't go by claimed tire size - use a flexible tape measure and measure the actual diameter around the center of the tread. If it's not quite the same, you can vary the height somewhat with air pressure.
This is the best answer I can give you. Remember, unlike other models on the market, the Traxter and Quest drive train is very tough, so you're not likely to stress it by being off a little.
Confused yet?
