My dad took my 14' enclosed trailer to Omaha to get more lumber for an addition that were building on his house and when he was in Iowa the DOT did everything but a body cavity search on him. My trailer is for my quads, and on the side in black letters it says BOMB SQUAD, FOX, not for hire, and has the Fox logo. Well two DOT cars pulled him over hand cuffed him took him to the scales and drug tested him, had bomb and drug sniffing dogs go through his pickup and my trailer (which was empty). accused him of selling drugs and explosives. They had no reason at all to stop him. My dad by the way is a disabled 59 yr old man. I have been through Missouri Nebraska Kansas Illinois Indiana Michigan Oklahoma Texas Ohio and Iowa with it and have never had any problems. The most the scales have ever done is asked me what was in the trailer and that was it. Unbelievable!!!! How stupid would someone have to be to put BOMB SQUAD on the side of their trailer if they were ACTUALLY selling explosives illegally??? Them two DOT officers should be fired for being so damn stupid to begin with. Its is definatly a crazy world, just look at Iraq today. 4 US citizens killed and dragged through the streets. They were part of a group bringing food to the area.

It is a sad state of affairs that we are in everyone looking over their shoulders. Although I don't believe that most terrorists would announce BOMB SQUAD on the side of their trailer. I also don't believe that legal action is in order here, our courts are already full of enough frivolous B.S.. These guys are just doing their jobs as stupid as it may sound. Think about what we all would be writing, right now if they let a trailer go by with BOMB SQUAD on the side and it actually committed a terrorist act. We would be calling those guys all kinds of bad stuff. I'm not trying to upset anyone here, just looking at both sides of the coin.

 

There was no reason to put him in handcuffs or drug test him.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not accusing your father of anything. I can't speak for the officers, for why they decided to cuff and test him. D.O.T. can pull over and safety check and scale any combo vehicle they choose though.
