Default Cracked swing arm

OK I have some cracks in my aluminum swing arm. they are not wide but I wanted to know if I should just get them welded. Will a repaired swingarm be as strong? or will it just start cracking in other spots? I don't think a 6 month old swing arm should do this. the manufacture said to send it in and they will reweld it. Should they replace it or just fix it? For $700 it should be stronger. What do you guys think? Will it be safe to ride on. I can post pics if needed.

If its cracked at the existing welds it could be rewelded, if not it needs to be scraped at the dealers expense of course, if its at your expense try welding it. If I were you i would be looking for my money back and at another product no matter where the cracks are, how much faith will you have in it now

I just checked mine all around and found no cracks luckily (where is yours cracking at). Do you jump alot? Either way I would assume the seller would replace swingarm, But It is a pain to re-assemble axle and what not. I had an American Star axle Snap at the frame when Hitting a small jump at about 45mph and almost fouled me up. The good news is that you found cracks before something bad happened.
Probably a defect or something. I have never jumped my +4 so I dont know how well they hold up when launching big air. I have not checked my swingarm where it bolts to the frame.

I looked deeper and found an 1/8 inch crack (on the weld) where rear shock mount is, but It doesnt pose a threat just yet I need to look under the swingarm thoroughly. Thanks for the heads up Squatcher.

Mine is cracked about 1 inch infront of the weld by the shock mount. The crack is right in the middle of the alum. It is on the major alum. beam (i call it that) that runs the lenght of the swing arm. I don't think the seller will replace but I will ask tomorrow. All he offered was to weld it today when I talked to him. I would trust another one if he sent me a new one. I understand that some products are defective sometimes. I don't jump highest I have gotten is 2 or 3 feet. I do fly though the whoops. Sound like no one would trust a welded swing arm.

It should NOT even crack if you jumped 15ft high. I dont know who you bought it from, but he should hook you up with a new one. If I were him I would be glad you didnt get hurt.

I had an aluminum swingarm on my 250R, and it started cracking. I ended up chasing cracks until I finally got rid of it, and went chromolly. Hopefully if you decide to keep it, you won't have the same problem. For the kind of money you spent, the guy who built it should replace it no questions asked. Considering the audience you have on this forum, he'd be crazy not too.
