Put on a end cap, 175 main , needle to 5th, 3 1/2 turns out, air lid off, getting a bunch of Back firing, went to a 180, back fire stopped, but sound rich on the top end. what try a 177.5?

 

Leave the lid on with the stock carb.

 

The power drops dramatically with the air box on.

 

Have you tried the mfg of the endcap for some recommendations?

If I remember right, with my setup I have a 190 main, needle to 4th, stock air screw, lid off.
I was thinking about putting the lid back on, but it runs pretty good the way it is so I think I'll leave it until I have everything apart for something else. Probably intake porting sometime this summer.

May or may not help, but it's a reference anyways.
