I have them and love them. Photo STU MDT on Mike Lyon's Quad cost about $150 ea. they have to remove a lot of the rubber to get them nice and light.

Are those the comp cut versions, or did u cut them are they a lot better once cut and how much strength do you think they loose
i would be using them on sand / dirt / gravel ect

Hows the hook up compared to paddels

i dont want them for drag racing or any thing i just want a tire with good flotation and hook up that can cross more than just sand
as my ride area has a few rough bits

big dog
Here is the site that shows the un cut ones

My understanding is they were intended to handle some hardpack and "a few rough bits" thats what the 2 bars running down the center are for and in stock form they have typical rubber thickness in the case area, it sounds like they may be a good match for your needs thoses center bars will also cut down on your sliding ability I would think. I have a set of comp cut tibo cut MDT too (Like the ones in the pic bill linked to) not good for duning for my machine, not enough hook up, but then I'm not stock either
also STU really wants them run on a 10' X 10" rim

You due not want the comp cut for your area a play cut may work better (just remove the extra paddles). They float great pull a little less than straight paddles but turn a lot better. I have seen the stock MTD used for beach racing in Europe

www.sandtiresunlimited.com is now selling the play cut versions direct. The play cut would be better for your application. They have good hook up (not as good as a hauler) and turn great.

I have been running the comp cuts for a long time and feel they are the best all around tire out there. Great flotation, better top end due to the size, and durability is great.

Default Mini desert tracks

thanks for the info

I will check out the play cut ones

You are right about the beach racing over hear a local guy i know races in these and he has to change his paddels over to tires similar to desert tracks but they are snow tires i think and damage easy
I dont know why they aint allowed to use paddels some rule about if they are not a uk supplied product.

I am assuming that since there are no paddels on these there is no clearance issues with the heel gaurd son the ds ??

I am trying to find a dealer at this side of the atlantic to get them from they are much cheaper in the US but the shipping costs soon wipe out the savings.

Just to clarify these are paddle tires. Originally designed to work (in the uncut version) in desert and dunes.

Yeah i see what u mean but they are just little paddels compared to the likes of sand stars and haulers etc

The ds has a few problems exepting 22" paddels as they hit the heel gaurds with the size of the paddel adding to total diameter

Thats a nic looking R you got how fast is it with the 330
I got to sell my R Now i have the ds but i will miss the two stroke rush
