Oil pressure light DS
#1
I have a 04 DS with about 13 hrs on it i changed the oil at 10 hrs and the oil light went out no problem no bleeding required.
i started it today and the oil light wouldnt go out i bled it at the hose then at the screw inside the filter and finaly i took the oil press switch out and bled it to there, plenty of oil everywhere.
If i manualy actuate the switch with a small screw driver the light will go completly out but when fitted to the bike it dulls down but remains on a bit
My diagnosis is a bad switch, Any one else got any ideas to the contrary? Or perhaps a similar story?
i called my dealer but as usual he doesnt have one in stock so i got to wait until they come in.
Im going riding tommorow any way so i hope im right.

They always go out. Most of the time time it is caused from water. Like washing it or going through creeks or rivers. I have had so many go out I can't remember the number. I just buy like 4 or 5 from the dealer and bring one extra one out when I go riding. Also wrap the sensor in plastic before you wash the ds and this will help protect it from shorting out.

Thanks i was reading through the old posts on the subject and i see i am not alone
Gives me a bit of peace of mind
Strange how it works ok when manualy pushed from inside but it did feel a little notchy when pushing it in so maybe its providing to much resistance to the oil press.
Anyhow the paranoya seed has been planted so i guess the next project will be fitting an oil press gauge. Where will it all end
