Default TM-45 CARB and Hightower

OK, I am new to the forum. However, I have been reading all of your post for somtime now. I appriciate all of the good Info.

I read a post today that indicated that Hightower was able to fix the hard throttle cable pull on the TM-(HSR) 45 Carb. My question(s) for HighTower is: have you activated the pump and can you share any info on what you have done to lessen this problem

I got alot of info from Hightower hes one of the primary guys to go to for the TM45. he is using the pump. I also have the TM45 and am using the thumb w/ pump activated, my pull is very light what I did is I put the softer spring in and tweeked/twisted it to make it firmer then went over to the pump side and took that spring and twisted it a little to make it softer. I also kept the spring in the thumb throttle intact. Hightower I belive uses the firmer sring and twistes it to make it softer. He will fill you in.JM2C

the very first time I did it I had it idle high once or twice after choping the throttle while riding . thats when I took a little tenchen out of the pump spring. hasnt hapen since. Its a trial and error thing ,tell you get it where you want it. I do belive Hightower uses the heaver throttle spring and twistes it to make it softer.

on the stock throttle cable where it attaches to the carburetor their is long nut the screws on the carb, and also is the adjustment for the cable. take a hacksaw and cut down one side till your through. then take a flat head screw driver place it into the cut line and twist! teh long adjustment nut will crack open like a peanut shell. the cable will now fit into the TM45 cable holder perfectly.

bigger.

Bamaboy,
do you have a TM 45 yet? If not you might want to look at the lectron 45 or 48 and do some performance shopping.
