I'll have to agree with lilnotts. And my 03DS with an end cap and k@n runs neck and neck with a trx450r with a slip on muffler

 

they're severals atvs magazine refering the ds 650 as the fastest
stock production sport quad ever made,,its been proven since the years one from various drag testing time that the bomb accelerate faster
and have explosive power,,the newer years model are even quicker stock
than 4 years ago,i don't know,but weight doesn't matter on a DS 650,

 

ok so heres a new match up, ds650 vs. yfz450 i have seen the ds, and know the yfz is insanely fast if it can find traction.

 

NOTHING I MEAN NOTHING can beat a banshee or a yfz, dont you people know that. It doesn't matter if they are stock or built, nothing can touch either. I have seen a stock yfz take a 12 mill like it was nothing.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-disgusted.gif[/img]. I once even seen a stock banshee with toomeys take out a top fuel dragster..

All these posts with eton 50 vs quadzilla. All it does is start a flame war, the yamaha guys will come in here and tell you how it is: (ex. above).

 

Banshee's are the king of the modded bikes. An alky banshee with extended swing + a rider that is seasoned will mopp up 99% of the competition. Then again, most of them have 10 - 15Gs in their sleds.

That said, The DS was the fastest stock quad in production. Not sure if stock for stock, the YFZ can get it or not. VERY fast quads.

Piped, jetted, CDI (rev limiters removed on banshees) and ridden hard.... (no cams, or other internal mods)

I'd say that the following:

1. DS
2. YFZ
3. Banshee
4. Raptor
5. 450r
6. Predator
7. Kawi 700
8. 400's (z, k)
9. 400ex
10. ?????

You'll notice that I didn't include the 250R. I have NEVER seen a stock one! With mods, I've seen those things as fast as Alky Banshees. They probably are as close to 250's as I am to bing 5ft tall. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

the difference is usually rider.

 

Stock 05 DSX650 against my brother-in-law's 04 stock YFZ.. He took off a tiny bit ahead of me but I caught him a a couple of seconds and then blew by him big time. He thought that I was a good 7+ mph faster if he was guessing.

 

The magazines said in the last review I saw that it was close (the ds still won but not by much) if the Banshee rider was perfect. They also said if the Banshee rider didnt shift with perfect timing he would fall out of the power and get wasted.

I think BigDaddy's list is on the money with a stock 250r in there somewhere near the 450R as well as the Quadzilla being right up there with the DS. I've never raced a Zilla with my DS but the hp to weight ratio is tough to beat.

 

I notice you have a 00 DS tell me you got diffrent rear tires. if you have the stock tires (kendas) and your on gravel or any thing but pavment your gona have trouble IMO. the kendas are junk. Also practice your starts. Starts are a science and if you dont have it down you will lose, some races are won or lost at the start.
