As I recall, when I would stab the throttle it would just start widning up about as fast as it could. Are you talking about from idle, or while riding at 3000 - 5000 rpm then stabbing it?

From idle is what I mean. It seems to be lean at the very bottom causing a slight tad of hesitation.

Entomber,

There is a screw to adjust the low end air/fuel mixture, it sounds like you need to turn that a little. That screw will also affect your idle speed, so you will have to re set the idle after you change it. One thing I suggest before you make any changes, take the quad for a really good 'hot lap' and then play with it. When it is fully warmed up it will be easier to adjust. This will also give you a very fresh idea of what you are trying to change.

Good point, since this is a racing carbureotr, the idle should be at 1800 - 2000 or so. I think I'm between 1500 and 1800 right now, though I haven't been on my DS in several weeks.

For a car that would be high, since they idle at like, 750. However the DS normally idles at 1300-ish so 1800 - 2000 isn't that bad. When you hear one idling at 1800 vs. 1300, you can tell a difference in sound, but it is still certainly an idle and only a bit faster - it doesn't sound like it should be running down the track at that point. My 2001 is at 1300 (Stock) and my 2003 (Lectron) is at 1800 (I think.)

I've noticed you do need to have the idle a bit high on this carb. That air/fuel mixture screw, how do you go about adjusting that. The more I turn out the higher it revs up. I think I need to turn the metering rod one more turn in. I've tinkered with both idel and mixture screw and its still a bit hesitant on the way low bottom. It seemed to be more responsive from when I got it from MisterHP, than what it is now since I tinkered with it.

I think I may need to turn the fuel metering rod to richen up a bit. When I turned it 2-3 turns more in it was responsive but the exhaust was showing a bit of coloration, prob too rich. I didn't mess with the air fuel screw tho. I think I will try that this week.
