Turbo Articles in Magazines??? Are they all asleep?
#1
Anyone else wonder why the big ATV magazines in the newsstands haven't done an article on KMS Turbo?
KMS has got to be one of the biggest emerging builders to hit the ATV market in a while. Why no write-up?
The same can be said for a number of other builders too.
Seems like all they are writing about is what the manufacturer's hand them on their quads. Sure, they do a couple heads-up competitions heare and there but come on!
If you look at most of the posts in this forum and the other forums they barely talk about the things we are all talking about.
Not to pick on one quad but, the YFZ is probably the main topic of many articles now a days, how about some suggested solutions to the de-compression plug (fixed in 2005 models). Most every quad has similar items but, it doesn't seem like they are truely interested in reporting anything but, what the Mfgr.s and others PAY them to publish.
Seriously, these magazines should be called catalogs since that's really all they are.
What do you think?

i was one that would buy the mags to read but after about a year it was just the same old stuff. most sand articles are very short. so until they improve i'll save my money

I have to agree 100% with both of you guys. They seem to be aimed at the uneducated ATV enthusiast or somebody who soley goes on what they read in the rags.
I used to get an ATV Sport because they would have a good article sometimes, but quit getting it recently too.
And every once in a while I would pick up a Sand Sport, but there was very little quad info in it normally.
As soon as KMS sends a check I'm sure that they would be in there.lol
One of the rags did do an article a LONG time ago on a turbo EX and Raptor.

I used to subscribe to all of the magazines, but the points people have made about them is very true and it gets old very quickly. When I was new to the sport I thought they were great, but as time went on, the stuff they were printing got annoying - the editors have favorites, they do write up those brands better, and they probably favor those brands due to cash. I'd love to see them do a truly unbiased review someday, but no one would believe it - at least none of the new readers and none of the older readers would believe it was unbiased.
They did do an article on the DS760 a long time ago...
I do subscribe to Maxim, but I'm going to let that one run out in 2005 since I don't have time to read it - I'm either working or playing with my quads or computers.

I asked KMS if they had ever been approached for an article. He told me that they wonted 10.000. He had to write the article and they would edit it. That changed my whole outlook on magazines. What a crock of !@#$ its all about the $$$$$$

See, all it takes is enough money, and they would sell their readers on a 'fresh' pile of dog droppings, assuming that is what you tell them you want. But if you come out with a really innovative new product like the turbo, eric's or tvi's kits and it is all about the greenbacks, who cares if the readers might want to read about it!
