Default Chain please help

Since yours is a 2000 I would check a few things. . .

Check your countersprocket (front sprocket) for wear. It may be time to replace it. If the rear has been changed to an aluminum one it probably needs replacing too.

Check behind the sprocket for oil leaks. You may need to replace your oil seal on the countersprocket shaft. This site has some great info.

To answer your question on adjusting the chain - loosen the bolts on the back of the swingarm so the bearing carrier can rotate. The bearing carrier is egg shaped so if you rotate the lobe towards the front of the bike, the chain gets tighter. Don't go too tight and you should probably have someone check the tension with you on the bike.

Also, you may want to remove the axel and lube the bearing carrier - probably best to replace the bearings and seals and lube the crap out of it.
