Default LED tail light. White or red?

Talk about frustrating, I went through three tail light bulbs and one headlight bulb over the weekend at Sand Mtn. For you guys running 1157 LED replacements do you use white or red LED's in the taillight?

Also does anybody happen to know what the headlight bulb is for 04? It has no markings on it and does not look like any bulb I have ever seen. I don't think it is a common replacement and I may have to go to the Bomb dealer for this one.

i have the red led, but you almost have to redo the mounting becouse its not like a bulb and shines everywhere, it shines out the side with the stk mounting but you can still see it. i used to blow 1157 every ride. not anymore with the led.

The white is brighter than the red but I have the same problem with it not shining the right direction.

DSengineer,
Your recetifier / regulator could be going bad and causing the bulbs to blow. Might try checking your voltage at different rpms.

I got the whole new assembly from Billet Banshee.

Looks great and never have to worry about a taillight failure again.

I ran an LED taillight. It took only 2 trips for it taillight to burn out. Brake light still worked fine though. The only thing I've had any success with is factory stock (OEM). Cost me about $8.00 from local dealer and going on 4 trips.

Also got some rubber and made some drop brackets for the taillight assembly. Let it swing back and forth a little bit. That way it takes away some of the vibration from the stock mount.

If you watch ebay, the honda 450 folks sell their smokin' rear LED light on ebay for a decent price.

I went with a trailer LED tail light. Its bright, but not near as swoopy or lite as the honda.....
