Default Edelbrock carb question

Does anyone know if a 42mm Edelbrock carb for another bike work on the DS? I know that Edelbrock doesn't have a DS specific carb....but they do have a 42mm, and a 44mm... Is there a reason why no one runs them?

I only know of one DS forum member running one. Off the top of my head I think that forum member is BillDS650 or some thing like that but could be wrong. Have you tried a search yet on this topic?

All those carbs are too small, a slightly modded DS will suck up a 48 and look for more

Default Edelbrock carb question

I have the answer to your question about the Edelbrock carburetor. According to BillDS650, it is one of the best performing carbs available for the DS, and he has the only one. The only real roadblock was that it takes a custom throttle cable mount, and Edelbrock decided they didn't want to bother making the cable mount - other than that, they would be selling carburetors. Seems like a lame, but typical excuse.

Perhaps Bill will some day feel like posting pictures of the throttle cable mount, and maybe with more luck someone with access to whatever machinery is required could make some. Not knowing anything about what this mount looks like, I could be really shooting in the wind or perhaps we could have another good carburetor option on our hands.

This topic was discussed in length, back in 2001.
