Turbo Or nos?
Welcome to the forums cdracecars!
Maybe you could give us a little more info on your specific race application? ie. sand drags/dirt/asphalt..etc- length of track- what you race against- what kind of numbers you want to pull etc.
Nitrous will hit real hard off the line and will be tough to beat in a short sprint (300 ft) longer races will favor a turbo setup- give us more info.

I'd suggest 17/35 gearing - get ya an aftermarket ignition that'll let you rev to 9000 rpms( MSD from TVI)( heavy duty valve springs will be needed) and turbo the beast. I'd expect you to pull low 100's. The greatest benefit to the turbo is the variable power levels, depending on how strong you build your motor you can go from mild to wild by the twist of the boost controller. The DS stock bottom end can reliable handle 100hp. The piston would need to be beefed up and some minor head work recommended. Rear plastic should be trimmed and streamlined to reduce drag and front splash guards removed. Wheely bar highly recommended.

Turbo Or nos?
#1. N2O with out a doubt. ($300 or so compaired to 4k) Turbo is a one time expense though. When I'm on the bottle I feel like a drug user with a habbit. (I always am looking for that refill station.)
#2. Both will be fine if done correctly, and if your not gready.
#3. Again, both will put out a bunch of power, so I say that is a draw. The snail will leave softer and then try to yank your arms off. (This will be an advantage on asphalt.) The nitrous will leave hard and stay that way if you have it set up that way. (Not good unless you have a controller to make it come on slow and build up.)
#4. N2O without a doubt, unless you put EFI on the snail and let the puter tune it for you.
If I was you I would go with the N2O first. Then if that does not slam you onto the ground and turn you into a bloody mess; then, pop the snail on and compound the deal. Turbos LOVE nitrous!!!!!!!!!!! When done this, way the bottle lasts forever and there is no lag!!!
Have fun, and hang on thight!!!!!!!!!!

Turbo Or nos?
I like what I have read on this thread so far. Personally, the NOS thing is kinda old, and there is a credibility problem when racing with it. Most people try and hide thier NOS bottle, or show that its turned off. However, I dont nessesarily agree with that. NOS is a oxidizer like oxygen. There are some kits that are better than others. But, If I were to do it, I would probably get the Turbo system by KMS. I saw several down there at Sand Mountain, I liked what I saw, and there is less of problem when racing with it. If I were to get the turbo, I would get the throttle body injection too. I think it comes down to money and how you feel about racing with both.
I currently have neither, so judge my comments on that.
